By James Frommert

Patrick McNally, a left handed defenseman from Glen Head, NY was drafted in the 4th Round in the 2010 NHL Draft, 115th overall. He joins other Suffolk Junior standouts in the NHL; Eric Nystrom, Mike Komisarek and Chris Higgins.

"Patrick spent several seasons in our Tier I Youth League with the Long Island Gulls, then two seasons in the MET League with Suffolk, averaging over a point a game in his last season. We are all extreme proud of Patrick and his accomplishments" stated AMHL President Glenn Hefferan.

McNally attended Milton Academy this past season continuing to average more than an a point a game, tallying 14 goals and 21 assists for 35 points in 28 games. He was named New England Prep School Defenseman of the Year and is set to attend Harvard in the fall of 2011.

"While nothing can match the work ethic and commitment of an accomplished athlete, I believe our League and all of its Divisions and programs provide our athletes the best possible experience to maximize their athletic potential" added Hefferan.

NHL Central Scouting's Gary Eggleston -
“Pat is an offensive defenseman whose strength is in rushing the puck and putting constant pressure on the defense. He is a very good skater with mobility, speed and quickness. His skating skills and quick hands allow him to escape trouble and move the puck quickly out of danger. In the defensive zone he has very good lateral mobility and closes quickly on the puck carrier, forcing him into quick decisions or mistakes. He is an excellent passer whose passes are accurate and proper for the situation. Doesn't play a physical game, but relies on quick stick and smarts to gain puck possession.
